Homeless Youth Group Journal Homeless youth are an unseen population. They may go unnoticed because they are forgotten about. They are not easy to identify because they do not have permanent housing. They may stay with friends and move from place to place or couch surf. Numerous homeless youth have left home for countless reasons. They may have nowhere to go, lack familial support, they may have suffered abuse at home, or they might be defiant with the rules at home and want to experience more independence an autonomy. The Prompt The prompt was a You Tube Video published on December 10th, 2015 about homeless youth living on the streets of Los Angeles, California. The video was a trailer about a documentary on the homeless youth crisis in America. For the purposes of this prompt, homeless youth are referred to as youth who are under the age of 18 and below the age of 24. The trailer describes characteristics of youth who are vulnerable to homelessness, reasons why they are homeless, and it reveals the way they survive alone in the world, without outreach and resources in their communities. The director sets out to make a public service announcement on homeless youth, but he finds himself taken by the tragedy in the lives of these youth. He is determined to find resources and assistance for them, even it if it is only for the night, but he is only met with rejection and a lack of services in the area.
